Scottish Welfare Cup 2024
Following a discussion at last year’s Scottish Welfare FA AGM, it was agreed to switch the Scottish Cup from a winter to a summer competition.
This move has been warmly welcomed by the SBWFA as it means our clubs are finally in the position to compete on the National stage. So far 4 have agreed to take part already, and we’re hopeful the rremainder will do likewise.
The early rounds of the competition will be played on a regional basis, meaning clubs won’t have to make any long trips south. It goes National from the quarter final stage onwards, with the final held at an SPFL stadium, depending on the teams involved.
Should any team be knocked out during the regional phase, they will automatically be entered into the Highland Welfare Cup for a second bite at the silverware cherry. A similar arrangement to the Champions League and Europa League.
We therefore encourage all teams to get involved as it’s a real chance to write their names into the Welfare history books. The deadline for admission is 1 February, and should any new clubs wish to join the SBWFA please contact us at teams@sbwfa.co.uk
