Aviemore v RBL – match postponed
The Association has been placed into the unfortunate position of having to postpone tonight’s Capaldi Cup 1st round game due to both sides having a shortage of players.
This has been caused entirely by misinformation being passed through the grapevine. It is extremely frustrating for the Association and match official who had been painstakingly arranged to cover the game. Despite no formal word from the SBWFA, players took it upon themselves to advise others that the game was off, which is a completely unacceptable situation to have.
As a result of this, the fixtures have had to be revised meaning this game will now be played next Tuesday instead, and the semi final with Kingussie moved back one week. The final itself has now also been moved back 1 week from the 24th to the 31st August.
This matter will be raised at the next AGM as clubs have no authority to cancel and rearrange fixtures between themselves. The logistical difficulties such decisions cause are now clear for all to see, and both sides can consider themselves fortunate that tonight’s tie was not decided on the toss of a coin instead so that the agreed fixtures could proceed as scheduled.
