All ready for the 2015 season
Last night’s AGM at the Legion in Aviemore was very well attended, and it was confirmed we’ll have 7 participating teams this year.
Due to increased work commitments, our long-time chairman Graeme “Girders” Mackie sadly tendered his resignation, and his position has now been filled by Bobby Kennedy. We’d like to thank Girders for his many years of dedicated services to Welfare football and hope to see him again at some point.
It was agreed that the usual Tuesday & Friday fixtures will continue, alternating between the League and Cups. However it was also requested that the season be extended to give more matches, so teams will now play each other 3 time as opposed to 2 with the last set of fixtures being played on Tuesdays AND Fridays to allow for failing light. A full set of this year’s fixtures is available here. A printable version can also be found in our Downloads page.
Fees were set at £175 per team (including compulsory insurance) and we will confirm this season’s referee fees shortly. Fees should be paid to the treasurer as soon as possible.
It was also emphasised to all clubs that we expect to be notified on the night of each result, with notes to follow in order to produce a weekly summary for the Strathspey Herald.
Lastly, we once more thank David Ritchie & Sons for agreeing to sponsor this season’s league. Their continuing support for grass roots football in the area is massively appreciated.
