3 player rule amended
The controversial 3 player rule put in place following this year’s AGM has now been amended following an appeal from clubs.
It had been agreed that no more than 3 players who have featured at any time this season in the Juniors or Highland League could be fielded by any Welfare side per game. However it was subsequently pointed out that this rule would be extremely detrimental to players and clubs alike, with the continuation of the 2016 SBWFA put in doubt.
It seems the Juniors have been signing players for no more than 1-2 games to cover the absences of regular squad members. This then greatly reduced the playing pool available.
Therefore a majority consensus was reached to amend the 3 player rule.
Clubs may now only field a maximum of 3 players with 10 or more appearances in the Juniors and/or Highland League throughout the 2015/16 season. Players with 9 or less appearances can be played as normal.
An element of good faith is being exercised here and we look to all clubs abiding by this revised rule. Breaches will result in a loss of points, as agreed at the AGM.
