2025 season all set to kick off
Following our AGM last month it was confirmed that 5 teams will be competing again this year. Sadly Grantown Utd did not reapply and no new teams were similarly forthcoming.
Due to the refereeing crisis in the local area it was agreed to switch League games from Tuesdays to Mondays as this will means more officials being available. Cup games will still be played on Fridays.
The season kicks off with the Dalvey Cup preliminary round on Friday 2 May, with the League itself starting on Monday 26 May. And our thanks once again go to David Ritchie & Sons Ltd for their continuing support of the League.
The start of the season also coincides with the first round of the Scottish Welfare Cup, which again sees it’s early stages played on a regional basis. Unlike last year, all our clubs have skipped the preliminary round and their first round ties are as follows (to be played the weekend of 10-11 May):
Aviemore Thistle v Grantown Rovers
Cromdale v Elgin Thistle
FC Abernethy v Invercairn
Mormond Thistle v Badenoch Utd
So it may not be the biggest League, but it’s still competitive. So get along and cheer on your local side: grass roots football is vital to the health of our game.
