2012 season set to kick off!
The 2012 season will kick off next month with the McCook Cup after all 6 clubs signed on for another year with the SBWFA at last night’s Association AGM in Aviemore.
In a very upbeat meeting, it was agreed to play all games on Tuesday nights, with the exception of Kingussie who will play all their matches on Wednesday nights due to shinty commitments taking priority in the area. It had been hoped that 9 teams would compete this year, however Newtonmore could not secure a regular home pitch and Carrbridge were unable to garner sufficient interest to once more take to the field.
As last year, referee fees will be split between the clubs on the night to help ease the burden. The earlier start to the season also sees 3 cup competitions being competed for in 2012: the McCook Cup, RBL Cup and Capaldi Cup. Cup finals will be played on Friday evenings.
A full fixtures list will be made available later.
The clubs were also given a brief presentation of behalf of our new website sponsor, Football Nation, with some very positive feedback received on the special discount package created exclusively for the SBWFA.
And finally, our warmest congratulations go to Graeme Mackie and Rob Clark who were last night awarded lifetime membership of the Scottish Welfare FA for their outstanding service to the game. Well done lads, thoroughly deserved!
